These standards are issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Transportation (DOT) to describe the necessary requirements for accessible design under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Use these standards to guide your efforts to create a more accessible Main Street. It is important for your to understand which standards you are legally required to follow, but even when you are not required to make upgrades, they can still be a good benchmark to measure your current accessibility efforts.
