Preparing for Natural Disasters

Hazard mitigation planning is the process of creating procedures with the goal of reducing or eliminating property damage during natural disasters and other emergency events. For Main Streets with significant cultural and historic assets, it is important to consider the unique features and needs of those assets when conducting hazard mitigation planning. This guide will take you through the processes of organizing your resources, assessing risks, developing your plan, and implementing your plan.
