In just two weeks, commercial district revitalization leaders and place stewards from across the country are convening for three days of insightful education sessions, unique special events, immersive mobile workshops, and memorable experiences at Main Street Now 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama. From downtowns in rural places to commercial corridors in cities, the Main Street Now Conference offers time-tested approaches, new techniques, and opportunities to exchange ideas designed to help your team address pressing issues impacting your community.

In this interactive session, work with your peers and experts to hone your pitch and understand how to effectively advocate to public officials to make the case for your Main Street program.

Leveraging Real Estate to Advance Small Business Success in Your District
Tuesday, May 7, 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

In this session, Main Street and commercial district small business development leaders will highlight their successes, challenges, and lessons learned from building small business accelerator spaces in their districts.

Main Street en Español: Strategies to Engage Latino & Hispanic Communities
Wednesday, May 8, 2:00 p.m.-3:15 p.m.

This session will explore the intricacies of engaging Latino/​Hispanic residents to your local Main Street organization and programming, and how they need to be adapted to local circumstances and evaluated for effectiveness. Hear about experiences and examples of outreach efforts tailored to meet the unique engagement needs of the community.

Shuttlesworth Documentary Screening and Q&A

Join us for a special lunchtime screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, Shuttlesworth. Featuring exclusive interviews with Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, family members, and colleagues, the film examines Shuttlesworth’s crucial contributions to the Civil Rights Movement which, in turn, helped amplify the integral role that Birmingham played as the catalyst in propelling the movement onto the national stage. After the screening, we will be joined for a discussion and Q&A with producers, T. Marie King and J. Winston, facilitated by Elijah Davis, Research Officer with the Nowak Metro Finance Lab.
