October 19, 2020 | Spotlighting the 2020 Great American Main Street Award Semifinalists
In February, we announced the eight semifinalists of the 2020 Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA). A top honor within the commercial district revitalization field, Great American Main Street Award winners are shining examples of the power of the Main Street Approach.
To celebrate these eight inspiring semifinalists and to get you reacquainted with their accomplishments, we’ll be highlighting one GAMSA semifinalist per day on our blog and social channels starting tomorrow October 20th through Thursday, October 29th. We’ll not only spotlight their impressive efforts from previous years, but we’ve also checked in with each community to hear about how their downtowns have been impacted by the pandemic, how their program have responded, and advice they’d give to other Main Street communities.
Don’t forget to join us as we announce the GAMSA winners on Friday, October 30 at 12pm EST during a special Main Street plenary at PastForward, the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s digital conference. Hear from President and CEO of the National Main Street Center, Patrice Frey, as she discusses the crucial role that Main Street programs are playing in supporting local economies through the current crisis before the special awards presentation.
The plenary is free to attend but registration is required! Tune in to the awards ceremony by registering for the session via Zoom or the PastForward site. We will also be streaming the ceremony via Facebook Live.
Then, join us at 6:00pm Eastern for a celebratory happy hour. Come prepared to discuss ideas and takeaways from the conference, share success stories from your downtown, test your Main Street knowledge with a competitive but fun game of trivia, and raise a glass to this year’s Great American Main Street Award winners. The event is free, but registration is required. Register here.
